Victoria King is an architectural and urban designer working in Sydney at Hill Thalis Architecture + Urban Projects. She studied at the University of Sydney and the University of Melbourne and was the recipient of the 2020 Victorian Graduate Prize by the Australian Institute of Architects. Victoria’s graduating project ‘Surface Tension / Blueprints for Renewal’ explored the adaptive reuse of maritime infrastructure in Sydney Harbour as a means towards ecological restoration and was awarded the 2019 Silver Medal by the Royal Institute of British Architects.

Victoria is interested in the creative potential of design research to understand the complex relationship between our built and natural environments. In 2022, she was a recipient of the Paul Pholeros Architecture Scholarship to investigate opportunities for resilient housing typologies in Lismore following the devastating floods. She has since worked as a researcher for the Living Lab Northern Rivers, helping to create their most recent exhibition ‘Bring It On Home’.

In 2023, Victoria received a Byera Hadley Travelling Scholarship to extend her research into flood adaptive urban landscapes and flexible mixed-use building typologies. She will travel to parts of Asia and Europe later this year.
